Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal started the second innings of Match 62 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a boundary. He has done that on five different occasions in IPL 2025, making him the only batter to achieve this feat in two different editions.
The left-hander gloved the first ball from Khaleel Ahmed for a boundary towards deep fine leg. Jaiswal had started the innings with a boundary on five occasions in 2023 as well.
Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag did the same in 2014. Virat Kohli (2023), Sunil Narine (2018) and Phil Salt (2025) have done the same four times.
Coming back to Jaiswal, the 23-year-old started the innings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a six earlier this season, while he got a four off the first ball against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Even in the earlier match against CSK at Chepauk, Jaiswal had started the innings with a four.
Chasing a target of 188 against CSK on May 20 (Tuesday), Jaiswal got RR off to a rapid start, smashing 36 off 19 deliveries, studded with five fours and two maximums. He has smashed 28 sixes in the IPL 2025 - the third-most by a Rajasthan batter in a single edition.
The Royals have struggled this season, but Jaiswal has been in stunning form, having hit 559 runs across 14 innings at an average of 43 and a strike rate of close to 160.
