Forgotten Mumbai Indians And Australia Pacer Takes 4/9 In The Hundred 2025

He is also the highest wicket-taker of the 2025 T20 Blast

Australian tearaway quick Riley Meredith is putting up a serious case for not just an international recall but an Indian Premier League (IPL) comeback.

Meredith, 29, is the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing Hundred edition and on August 13 (Wednesday) against the Manchester Originals, he produced the best individual bowling performance of the season, taking 4/9 to bowl Welsh Fire to their first win of the season.

In a fiery spell, Meredith ran through the Manchester top four as he picked the wickets of Phil Salt, Ben McKinney and Mark Chapman inside the first 16 balls of the innings to reduce the Originals to 14/3. He then took the last wicket, that of Sonny Baker, to finish with remarkable figures of 4/9.

This has been a dream summer in England for Meredith, who is also currently the highest wicket-taker in the 2025 T20 Blast with 27 wickets to his name. He is the only pacer in the T20 Blast 2025 to take multiple four-wicket hauls.

A former Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings pacer, Meredith last played in the IPL in the 2023 season. He made 5 appearances for MI and took 7 wickets at an economy of 10.5. His last international appearance for Australia, meanwhile, came in September last year in a T20I against Scotland.
