Forgotten Team India Test Star Switches Teams Ahead Of New Domestic Season

He is currently a part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) set-up in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

Jayant Yadav’s 14-year association with Haryana is over as the off-spinner, according to ESPNCricinfo, has completed a move to Puducherry ahead of the new domestic season.

It was in 2011, as a 21-year-old, that Jayant debuted for Haryana and went on to play 60 first-class games, 68 T20s and 50 List A matches for the state. He excelled across all formats for Haryana, taking 266 wickets in total. 174 of these wickets came in red-ball cricket, and he even went on to make his team India debut in 2016.

Now, it’s believed that the 34-year-old has opted to switch states due to his desire to play all three formats. Jayant last played T20 cricket for Haryana in 2023, and List A cricket for the state in 2022.

Someone who is a more-than-capable batter aside from being a quality off-spinner, Jayant, in 6 Tests, has 16 wickets and a Test hundred under his belt. That century came against England at the Wankhede in 2016, where he shared a famous 241-run stand with Virat Kohli batting at No.9. After that, Jayant played a Test each in 2017, 2021 & 2022, with his last appearance coming against Sri Lanka in Mohali, three years back.

He is currently a part of the Gujarat Titans (GT) set-up in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
