Jaydn Denly, nephew of former England international and former Kolkata Knight Riders batter Joe Denly, smashed his maiden professional fifty on June 25 (Wednesday) in the County Championship clash between Kent and Lancashire.
Playing his fourth first-class game and 17th professional game overall, Jaydn, 19, posted 57 against a Lancashire attack that consisted of James Anderson and Australia international Chris Green among others.
A left-hander, unlike his uncle, Jaydn was a part of the England U19 squad at the 2024 U19 World Cup. But he did not have the most fruitful of tournaments with the bat in hand, averaging just 13.00. But he did pick 5 wickets at an economy of 3.93 bowling left-arm spin.
Even in this aforementioned County clash, he registered figures of 2/25, with Green among his victims.
In the same clash, Australia batter Ashton Turner hammered 154 off just 148 balls for Lancashire. Anderson, meanwhile, picked 3 wickets in the contest.
