Former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Karan Sharma is in scintillating form in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Premier League (UPPL) 2025. Captaining Kashi Rudras, the 26-year-old scored a brisk 71 off 44 balls against Lucknow Falcons on August 24 (Sunday), marking his third fifty-plus score in the tournament.
Karan batted with caution against Falcons’ experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who finished with figures of 1/21, but he showed no such restraint against the other bowlers, smashing seven fours and three sixes.
He shared a 114-run opening stand with Deepak Rana (46 off 43), propelling Kashi Rudras to a formidable 187/4 in their 20 overs. The Rudras then restricted Lucknow Falcons to 168/7 in reply, sealing a 19-run victory and keeping their unbeaten streak intact after five matches.
With scores of 71, 107*, 58, 19, and 39, Karan has amassed 294 runs in five innings at an average of 73.5 and a strike rate of 165.2, making him the leading run-scorer in UPPL 2025. He has outscored the second-highest run-getter, Priyam Garg, by more than 100 runs (185).
Karan’s current form is a stark contrast to his brief stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played three games for LSG across the 2022-23 season, scoring just 16 runs at an average of 5.33 and a strike rate of 64. He hasn’t featured in the IPL since then, but if he maintains this top form in the UPPL 2025, Karan could attract attention and potentially find a buyer in the IPL 2026 auction.
