Former Mumbai Indians (MI) star Kieron Pollard lit up the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 once again, smashing a blistering unbeaten 54 off just 18 balls against Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 6 (Sunday).
Walking in with Trinbago Knight Riders struggling at 95/4 in the 16th over, Pollard unleashed his trademark power-hitting to turn the innings on its head. He blasted five fours and five sixes, single-handedly powering TKR to 167/5 by the end of their 20 overs.
The highlight of his knock came in the final over, where the 38-year-old - also MI’s batting coach in the IPL - took down Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Romario Shepherd with a brutal sequence of 6, 6, 4, 4 off the last four deliveries.
Pollard’s late assault yielded 67 runs in the last four overs, completely shifting the momentum of the contest. However, despite his heroics, the score wasn’t enough as Guyana chased down the target with three wickets in hand and just one ball to spare.
Pollard’s form this season has been nothing short of sensational. In eight innings, he has piled up 291 runs at a staggering average of 72.75 and a strike rate of 185.35. TKR have already qualified for the playoffs of the CPL 2025.
