Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Tabraiz Shamsi delivered a match-winning spell against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, guiding his side, Saint Lucia Kings, to a seven-wicket victory on August 28 (Thursday).
The South African left-arm wristspinner was exceptional, claiming 2 wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs, playing a pivotal role in restricting the Patriots to 177/3 in their 20 overs.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan (60 off 41)* registered his first fifty of the tournament but struggled to maintain a threatening strike rate. Kyle Mayers (27 off 25) also failed to accelerate, leaving the Patriots with a below-par total on a batting-friendly St Lucia pitch.
In response, Saint Lucia Kings got off to a blazing start thanks to their openers. Tim Seifert (68 off 45) and Johnson Charles (47 off 17) added a quickfire 85 runs in just 6.5 overs, setting the tone for a comfortable chase. The Kings eventually reached the target with three overs to spare, showcasing their dominance.
With this win, Saint Lucia Kings remain at the top of the CPL 2025 points table, while Rizwan’s Patriots sit near the bottom, having won only two of their seven matches so far.
