Former SRH Coach Set To Be Appointed As LSG's Global Director Of Cricket: Reports
Moody will be replacing Zaheer Khan in the franchise setup
Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer and renowned coach, is set to join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as their Global Director of Cricket, as per reports in ESPNCricinfo. This would mark another significant move in the franchise’s effort to strengthen its cricketing operations and long-term planning after the departure of Zaheer Khan.
His new role will involve overseeing LSG’s overall cricket strategy, from player recruitment and talent development to shaping the team’s on-field philosophy across competitions, along with head coach Justin Langer.
A veteran of both international and franchise coaching, Moody brings a wealth of experience to the position. After a successful playing career for Australia, Moody transitioned into coaching. He has worked as the head coach of Sri Lanka, guiding the team to the 2007 ICC World Cup final, where they finished as runners-up.
In franchise cricket, Moody became one of the most respected figures in the T20 circuit. He served as head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League, leading them to the 2016 IPL title and several consistent playoff appearances. Later, he took on the role of Director of Cricket for SRH, overseeing squad composition and player strategy. He has also worked in leagues such as the Caribbean Premier League and the Big Bash League.
LSG have shown flashes of promise but struggled with balance and depth in their squad, and as a result, have mostly finished in the middle of the points table. Moody’s arrival is expected to address these gaps, aligning recruitment strategies with long-term performance goals.
