Bad luck continues to haunt Arundhati Reddy as the Indian all-rounder went down days before the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, on September 25 (Thursday). In India’s warm-up clash against England in Bengaluru, the all-rounder went down after she was hit on her follow-through.
The incident happened in the 13th over of the innings when England’s former captain Heather Knight hit a powerful drive back at Reddy, who was hit sharply on her knee. Reddy hobbled initially before she had to be taken off the attack, and was stretchered off the field, leading to more concerns for India.
Over the last week, India were already handed an injury blow when wicketkeeper batter Yastika Bhatia was ruled out of the multi-team tournament. Now, Reddy’s injury could put them in a big spot of bother, considering the all-rounder’s value in the setup.
Eventually, it was Jemimah Rodrigues who finished the over, conceding five runs off two balls. England batters did not spare the bowlers, as skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt punished India with a stellar 104-ball 120, an innings where she smashed 13 fours and two sixes, striking at 115.38. Emma Lamb, too, was in a punishing mood as the batter smashed a 57-ball 83.
