Strange things have happened in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 even before its start. For instance, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had to bring in an altogether different rule of allowing India and Pakistan to play at neutral venues in ICC tournaments, because India refused to travel to Pakistan. But the ICC doesn’t seem to get a rest as a new controversy erupted.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote to the ICC, seeking an explanation over why the name Pakistan was removed from the branding of the tournament in the live broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh match. Before that game and even after it, the logo of the Champions Trophy 2025 had the name of Pakistan in it, but in that particular game it was missing and PCB have taken the matter to the world body.
Though there seems to have been a conversation between the ICC and PCB where the former has called it an early technical error. ESPN Cricinfo wrote, “ICC is believed to have informally told PCB it was an early technical error. The explanation has left PCB dissatisfied.”
The ICC has further clarified that the issue will not persist in any future matches, whether in Pakistan or in the UAE.
The next match in Pakistan will be between England and Australia, while the next game in the UAE will be the biggest clash of the event between India and Pakistan.
