India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, will return to India from Australia, where the team is playing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to multiple media reports, Gambhir had to leave due to personal reasons. However, the former India batter will rejoin the team before the start of the second Test in Adelaide on December 3.
“Gambhir has informed us that he will be travelling back home and will join the team before the start of the second Test. He has cited personal reasons and the BCCI has accepted his request,” Indian Express quoted a BCCI source as saying.
Between the first and the second Test, India will also play a two-day pink ball game to get acclimatised to the conditions before the Adelaide Test. This match against Australian Prime Minster’s XI will take place in Canberra from November 30 (Saturday) onwards.
However, a good thing for India is that regular skipper Rohit Sharma is back in Australia, and he, along with coaches Abhishek Nayar, Morne Morkel, T Dilip, and Ryan ten Doeschate, will oversee India’s training as well as the two-day tour game.
India lead the five-match series 1-0 after a record-breaking 295-run win in Perth on Monday.
