Glenn Maxwell latest from Melbourne Stars to test positive for Covid-19

The Stars captain underwent a rapid antigen test after his side's loss to Melbourne Renegades on Monday (January 3) and returned with a positive result

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is the latest player from Melbourne Stars to test positive for Covid-19. The Stars captain underwent a rapid antigen test after his side's loss to Melbourne Renegades on Monday (January 3) and returned with a positive result.

He is now believed to be in isolation, still awaiting the result of his PCR test.

Maxwell joins the long list of Stars players who have tested positive for Covid-19 with the number now gone up to 13 players and eight staff members. As a result, Stars had to field a depleted side for the last two fixtures.

However, there is some good news for them as some of the first-team members like Adam Zampa, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile, among others would have completed their seven-day isolation in the next day or two and could be available for the side's next game against Adelaide Strikers on Friday (January 7) at the Adelaide Oval.

Stars are currently in the seventh position in the BBL table, having won just three of their eight matches so far.
