Gloucestershire sign Naseem Shah for 2022 season

The 18-year-old will be available to play all three formats for the club

Gloucestershire have confirmed that they have signed Pakistan fast bowling sensation Naseem Shah for the 2022 season, with the 18-year-old set to play all three formats for the club. Naseem, who in 2020 became the youngest ever bowler to take a Test hat-trick, will be available to play all three formats for Gloucestershire till the group stages of the 2022 Vitality Blast season. The club, however, confirmed that the pacer will be released for national duty from June onwards, should he be called-up.

“I’m extremely happy to be joining Gloucestershire and can’t wait to experience playing in English cricket for the first time. I’m excited for what we can achieve as a team next season and will use all my skills to help Gloucestershire challenge for silverware across all formats,” Naseem said in an official statement.

In 2019 Naseem debuted for Pakistan in Test cricket at the age of 16, and he has so far played 9 Tests, taking 20 wickets at an average of 42.45. In his young career, however, the 18-year-old has already played Test in Australia, England and New Zealand.
