GOAT WK? Quinton de Kock Equals Sangakkara’s World Record In 180 Fewer Innings

De Kock now has 23 ODI tons to his name

Quinton de Kock’s extraordinary return to ODI cricket continues to be even more remarkable as in the third ODI against India today in Vizag, the wicketkeeper batter has notched up his 23rd ODI hundred. De Kock, who un-retired from ODIs last month, now has two fifties and two hundreds in six ODI innings since making his comeback last month, marking a stunning return.

The hundred today is a special one as de Kock now has joined Kumar Sangakkara at the very top of the list for the most centuries by a wicketkeeper in ODI cricket. Remarkably, the 32-year-old has peeled off 23 ODI tons in 180 fewer innings than Sangakkara did, making him, by some distance, the most prolific wicketkeeper batter in the format’s history.

This century today is de Kock’s seventh ODI ton in India, the joint-most by a non-Indian batter ever. The only other batter with as many centuries? AB de Villiers.
