Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the ultimate sportsman and most successful captain of the Indian cricket team, revealed that he never indulged in social media public relations, because good cricket doesn’t need PR.
“I have never been a big fan of social media, I had different managers and they used to keep me pushing,” Dhoni said on the latest episode of ‘Tread Talks’ of Eurogrip Tyres.
Talking further about his reluctance to use social media during his prime playing days, the 43-year-old reflected on his journey of dealing with PR and social media.
“I started playing in 2004, so Twitter and Instagram were getting popular and the managers were saying you should do some PR build, this and that, but I had the same answer... if I play good cricket I don’t need PR,” he said.
Dhoni, who was retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as an uncapped player after retiring five years ago in 2019, revealed his social media habits.
“It was always if I have something I will put it. If I don't have one, I won’t. I take the stress away, I am not worried about who has how many followers, who is doing what because I know if I take care of cricket, everything else will take care of itself,” he said.
