Jos Buttler hasn’t started The Hundred 2025 season as expected, as the wicketkeeper batter got out for a four-ball duck in Manchester Originals’ clash against Oval Invincibles, on August 9 (Saturday).
On one of the most emotional nights of his life, Buttler endured a rough outing, as he went for a booming drive before the ball went straight to Donovan Ferreira’s hands via the edge of his bat. It put the Phil Salt-led Originals in a tough spot after they were inserted into batting first at the Kennington Oval.
It was a big night for Buttler, with the entire Originals side wearing a black armband in memory of the batter’s dad, who passed away a week ago. But the English international was unable to make any impact in the clash.
Buttler hasn’t had the best of starts to The Hundred 2025 either, with the No.3 getting out for an 18-ball 22 in their loss against Southern Braves in their first clash of the competition. The English batter was one of Gujarat Titans’ best in IPL 2025, with 538 runs, including five fifties at a strike rate of 163.03.
