Match 6 of the 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will take place between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Tridents at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The hosts have won both their games so far, while for the Tridents, this will be their first appearance in this year’s tournament.

In the two matches that have taken place so far at this stadium this year, spinners have enjoyed more success than pacers. While spinners have a bowling average of 16.50 and strike rate of 16.2, the corresponding numbers for fast bowlers are 29.20 and 20.7 respectively.

It’s not just that spinners are taking wickets more regularly, but they’ve also been very economical – conceding 6.11 runs per over. On the other hand, the pacers have an economy rate of 8.45 so far in this year’s CPL at Providence.

Captaincy Choices 

Shadab Khan has been the star performer for the Warriors. In two matches, he has taken five wickets and conceded just 36 runs from a combined eight overs. While he has made no contribution with the bat so far, he is capable of doing so if the need arises.

Sandeep Lamichhane, considering the spin-friendly nature of the ground, is a good option to consider. He had a good CPL last season, taking a wicket every 14.5 deliveries and considering just 6.23 runs per over.

Shimron Hetmyer was the Player of the Match in the Warriors’ win over St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Saturday after scoring an unbeaten 70 from 47 balls. He enjoys batting at Providence, with a batting average of 51.85 and a strike rate 141.79 in T20 cricket at the ground.

X-Factor 

Raymon Reifer played just five matches in CPL 2018, but he took a wicket every two overs when he did. While his economy rate might have been high at 10.62 last season, you must consider that he bowled a fair bit during the death overs which increases his wicket-taking potential.

Weather 

Although it’s going to be cloudy for some part of the day, there isn’t much chance of rain so expect a full match.
