Match 4 of the 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will take place between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Providence Stadium, Guyana . Led by Shoaib Malik, the Warriors won their opening match of the tournament. The Patriots, captained by Carlos Braithwaite, lost their first match of the season against Trinbago Knight Riders
Ground details and team combination
In the first two matches played at this venue, spinners were dominant, giving away runs at an economy rate of just 5.78 compared to pacers who conceded 8.15 runs per over. Spinners performed better than the pacers across all the phases of the innings.
Not that pacers shouldn’t be part of the fantasy XI, but the pacers are the only ones who are likely to bowl at the death. In the death overs, strike rate of pacers in the first match of this year’s CPL at this venue was 13.5, compared to 24 in the powerplay and 18 in the middle overs.
Captain
Chris Green was the “Man of the Match” in the first match of this year’s CPL and he can be expected to repeat a similar performance in this match. Pitch should be expected to assist spinners and at his bowling pace, he can be hard to get away. His exploits with the bat will could also prove critical in the late overs.
Mohammad Hafeez couldn’t play to his potential in the previous match. Though he hasn’t been scoring runs quickly these days, but for fantasy team what matters in the runs and not the speed at which it comes. He bowled just one over in the previous match and that should change this match.
X-Factor
Nicholas Pooran was dismissed for a duck in the previous match but it is unlikely that it will happen again in the near future.. His record against spin makes him very handy on this track. The fact that he will keep wickets to so many quality spinners should earn decent points from catching or stumpings.
Weather
There are no chances of rain and is expected to be very humid during the course of the match. The temperature is expected to be between 28 and 32 degrees celsius.
Fantasy team
Our prediction says that Guyana Amazon Warriors should win this match comfortably and thus calls for more players in the fantasy XI from the side. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots has too many bowling options, to an extent that Fabian Allen didn’t even bowl in the first match and Hafeez just bowled an over. Things should change in this match and they would like to bring in an extra batsman.
Carlos Braithwaite, with the sort of self-confidence he has, is likely to continue to bowl the death overs and should be able to pick a wicket or two. Sheldon Cotrell looked the most threatening among all their bowlers in the previous match. Fabian Allen batted well and should get to bowl on this track. Knight Riders’ arguably has the best spin attack of the tournament and that will be very handy on this track.
Predicted Fanfight team: Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Hemraj Chanderpaul, Evin Lewis, Mohammad Hafeez, Carlos Braithwaite, Fabian Allen, Shadab Khan, Chris Green, Romario Shepherd, Sheldon Cottrell
