Foakes injures hamstring after slipping in dressing room, out of New Zealand Tests

Gloucestershire wicketkeeper James Bracey is expected to make his Test debut at Lord's

England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has been ruled out of the Test series against New Zealand, which will commence on June 2 at Lord's. The England wicketkeeper slipped in the dressing room during Surrey's match against Middlesex, tearing his left hamstring. He is set to miss three months of action.

Foakes, who was set to play his first Test at home will now be assessed and will work closely on his rehabilitation with the Surrey medical team.

England have called-up, uncapped wicketkeeper Sam Billings as replacement, but James Bracey, the Gloucestershire 'keeper, who was already in the squad is expected to make his Test debut at Lord's. Opening batsman Haseeb Hammed into the squad, having last played a Test against India in November 2016.

Hameed has been impressive for Nottinghamshire this season, having scored 474 runs at 52.66. He will join the England squad after Nottinghamshire's match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, which will begin on Thursday (May 27).
