Rishabh Pant finally came good in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with a century in the last league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow on May 27 (Tuesday). The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain smashed an unbeaten 118 off 61 deliveries, but it was not good enough as RCB chased down 228 with ease.
LSG mentor Zaheer Khan says that he is delighted to see Pant finish on a strong note after a frustrating season.
“Well, he's been good as a leader. That was a bright positive for us throughout the season. The form with the bat was definitely a learning experience for him, having this kind of season. But his ability and calibre are not in doubt. That's how we are looking at it,” Zaheer said in the post-match press conference.
“We're happy he finished on a strong note - that's the caliber he has, and the impact he can have on the game."
Pant managed just one fifty and a hundred in his 13 IPL innings this season. Overall, he finished with 269 runs at a strike rate of 133.16. LSG finished a disappointing seventh with just 12 points from 14 matches, including one win from their last six matches.
