Hardik is one of the top leaders I have worked with: Miller

The southpaw smashed an unbeaten 31 off 16 deliveries to help the Gujarat Titans edge past Delhi Capitals by six wickets

The defending champions, Gujarat Titans, continued their sublime run in the Indian Premier League as they secured their second win courtesy off a dominating performance against the Delhi Capitals.

On a two-paced wicket in New Delhi, the Titans were jolted early in the run chase of 163 as Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha and Hardik Pandya were dismissed in the powerplay.

However, Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar steadied the innings with a 53-run stand for the fourth wicket before the right-handed batter was dismissed for 29 runs.

Coming in at number six, David Miller smashed some big blows down the ground to remain unbeaten on 31 off 16 deliveries and stitch a crucial 56-run partnership with Sudharsan.

En route to this match-winning stand, the youngster smashed his second half-century and was unbeaten to 62 off 48 deliveries to guide the Titans over the line.

In the post-match presentation, Miller heaped praises on the Tamil Nadu batter and said, "It is nice to see him do really well, and I am pretty happy with his performance. To come and do what he has done in the last two games is very encouraging for the team. He is a seriously talented player, and we need him in the squad."

The South African batter also shared insights on the leadership qualities of Hardik Pandya and the reason behind the Titan's success in the run chases.

"We have been very calm through our chasing and confidence has a big part to play. Being very successful over the last season and the last two games definitely take a lot of confidence from it as a team," he said.

“Hardik is definitely one of the top leaders I have worked with, and I’m very privileged to work under him. He instils a lot of confidence within the squad and is a huge team man."

"He makes time for the younger guys as well as making good decisions and big calls, and I’m really enjoying his leadership and obviously the decisions on the field,” he concluded.

The Titans will now host the Kolkata Knight Riders in an afternoon encounter on April 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
