Hardik Pandya hasn’t had much going in his favour in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ever since he became the Mumbai Indians' skipper. MI ended up in last place on the points table in the 2024 season and is currently in eighth place after losing three of their first four games in the 2025 season.
But Pandya, the all-rounder, has shouldered the responsibility as a player as well as possible. He became the first Indian player to achieve the rare all-round feat of 5000 runs and 200 wickets in the T20 format. Overall, he’s only the 12th player to do so. Some other notable players to have achieved this milestone are Kieron Pollard, Andre Russel, Shane Watson, Shakib Al Hasan etc.
On the day, Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede in Mumbai. RCB had a great start despite losing Phil Salt in the powerplay, as Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal didn’t let the run-scoring suffer at all. RCB scored 73/1 in the second-best powerplay total against MI at Wankhede Stadium in IPL.
Later, Pandya came back well with the ball and picked the prized wickets of Kohli and Liam Livingstone, who could have swelled RCB’s total even further. These wickets helped him achieve the rare all-round milestone.
