Mumbai Indians’ skipper Hardik Pandya had his best bowling night in the Indian Premier League (IPL), registering figures of 5/36 in the away clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4 (Friday). Prior to this encounter, Pandya had never picked up a five-wicket haul in T20 history.
But cometh the hour, the all-rounder smashed all bowling records, becoming the first-ever captain in IPL history to pick up a five-wicket haul. Pandya started his night strongly, picking up the prized scalp of Nicholas Pooran (12 off 6) before removing his counterpart, Rishabh Pant, who tamely hit the ball to mid-off fielder Corbin Bosch.

The all-rounder later returned to bowl the tough overs, dismissing both David Miller (14-ball 27) and Akash Deep to get to his first-ever five-wicket haul in T20s. Legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble held the record prior to this game, with figures of 4/16 against Deccan Chargers on two occasions. It was the eighth occasion when an MI bowler had picked up a five-wicket haul, the most in IPL history.
