Harmanpreet pleased with pacers' performance against Sri Lanka

India beat Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the ODI series with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur leading from the front

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was satisfied with her batting and the team's performances in the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka. India won the T20I series 2-1 and followed it up with 3-0 cleansweep of the ODI series.

Kaur starred in both the series with 211 runs from six innings and led the batting charge with a superb 75 in the third and final ODI on Thursday which India won by 39 runs.

The 33-year old said that she had to make the mental adjustment of enjoying her game which helped her batting.

"For me, it's always important that I should enjoy each and every moment. Sometime in between, I was not enjoying because sometimes you take a lot of pressure -- it happens with anyone. I was going through those things but now I have made a plan that I have to enjoy. Whatever the situation, I'll try to stay there and give the start the team needs. That's what I've been trying in the last few months," she said at the press conference on Thursday.

The newly-appointed ODI captain was satisfied with her pacers, who grabbed 19 wickets across the six matches. Renuka Singh impressed in absence of veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami with nine wickets at an average of 18.66.

"Our medium-pacers - I actually wanted to give more opportunities to them. I'm happy they have grabbed that opportunity. We were always depending on spinners in the first few overs but they took the responsibility and gave those results," Kaur said.

Kaur herself took on the bowling responsibility in the series with two wickets from the three ODIs.

"I had also told our head coach (Ramesh Powar) that I was available for bowling but because of some game plans, I didn't get to bowl. I have been planning for a long time that I should get to bowl. I am glad I was able to get those breakthroughs," she said.

The Indian skipper was delighted with Pooja Vastrakar's batting ability. The allrounder forged a match-winning 97-run partnership with Kaur in the third ODI after India lost six wickets in a heap and remained unbeaten on 56 off 65 balls.

"Whoever is in the playing XI is capable of doing both things. Pooja Vastrakar has done really well so far and I think that batting order really suited her and in future, if we need to change something, we will take charge accordingly," Kaur said.
