NEWSYoung pacer Harshal Patel on Sunday became the third Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler to claim an IPL hat-trick. In the 17th over of the second innings against Mumbai Indians, Patel dismissed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar off consecutive deliveries as RCB won by 54 runs.
Praveen Kumar against Rajasthan Royals in 2010 and Samuel Badree against Mumbai in 2017 were the other RCB bowlers to achieve this feat previously. Patel, who holds the Purple Cap with 23 wickets from 10 matches, wrapped the match by dismissing Adam Milne in the 19th over as he ended the match with figures of 4-17.
Patel's hat-trick is also first in IPL 2021 and 20th bowler to achieve the rare feat.
Earlier in the match, RCB scored 165/6 in 20 overs after skipper Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell hit fifties.
