Harshit Rana earns maiden call-up as pacer added to squad for Zimbabwe T20Is

Rana has been added to the squad for the first two T20Is alongside two other players, Sai Sudharsan and Jitesh Sharma

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi pacer Harshit Rana has earned his maiden international call-up as the 22-year-old has been added to India’s squad for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe.

Rana, who had a breakthrough IPL season with 19 wickets in KKR’s title-winning campaign, was a surprise omission from the squad India initially named for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

But several senior players being stranded in the Caribbean due to Hurricane Beryl has presented the speedster with a much-deserved opportunity.

Rana has been added to the squad for the first two T20Is alongside two other players, Sai Sudharsan and Jitesh Sharma. The trio have replaced Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal, all of whom are currently stranded in the Caribbean.

The Indian senior men’s side has been stuck in the Caribbean since Saturday, but the group is expected to exit the Islands later today (July 2nd).
