Heart Of Gold: Pant Pays Underprivileged Girl Student's College Fees
Rishabh Pant showed immense generosity by coming to the aid of a bright BCA student in Karnataka
Rishabh Pant has a big heart, and he proved that once more recently, when he paid INR 40,000 as the first semester college fee for Jyoti Kanabur Math, who hails from a remote area of Karnataka.
Jyoti, who passed 12th grade with 85% in her pre-university course, secured admission in a Bachelor’s in Computer Applications (BCA) course at the Bijapur Lingayat Educational Institution in Jamkhandi. However, her family was unable to afford her college fees.
The family then reached out to a local person named Anil, who in turn contacted his cricket contacts in Bengaluru, from whom the request eventually reached Pant. The wicketkeeper batter wasted no time in helping out and sent INR 40,000 to the college, helping Jyoti secure her admission.
Jyoti wrote a heartfelt message as well to Pant, thanking him for his help and promising to help poor children once she becomes a software engineer.
“Namaste everyone, my name is Jyotika. My father’s name is Teertaiya and my mother’s name is Roopa. I stay in Rabkavi village in Jamkhandi. I completed my SSLC in a school in Belagavi and my PUC from a college in Belagavi,” Jyoti wrote in her letter of appreciation.
“I wanted to pursue BCA, but due to financial problems, my parents approached Anil, a person from our village, to ask if there was any scholarship or financial help available. Anil then contacted his friend Akshay, who lives in Bangalore. Akshay brought my situation to the attention of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant.
“Rishabh Pant transferred 40,000 so that I could pursue my BCA. I am very thankful to Rishabh Pant and pray to God to bless him with good health.
“I’m also grateful to Anil Anna and Akshay Naik sir. I will never forget their help. I want to become a software engineer and will make the best use of this opportunity. I also want to say: save the girl child and empower the girl child. Lastly, after becoming a software engineer, I will also help poor children,” she added.
Pant won everyone’s heart on the cricket field by walking out to bat with a broken toe and still scoring a half-century. Now, he has won hearts off the field as well, by helping an underprivileged student carve out a bright future for herself.
