Chennai Super Kings ended their five-match losing run in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by winning their seventh match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 14 (Monday). Noor Ahmad, the wrist spinner from Afghanistan, was one of the influential men for Chennai, being miserly economical and conceding only 13 runs in his four overs.
The CSK bowling coach, Eric Simmons, was all praise for Noor, saying that he is a spinner, even though he can’t read during bowling drills, let alone batters at the other end.
“I’ve caught a lot of balls to a lot of spinners over the years in my role as a bowling coach, and he’s one I cannot read. He’s tough to read. And that’s obviously a fantastic asset to have. His willingness to learn and grow is important,” Simmons said about Noor during the post-match press conference.
Simmons further praised the Afghan spinner’s brilliance in the game. He said, “When you’ve gone for only 13 in four overs, in a game like this, that sets up a win in many ways. So, certainly, from a bowling coach's perspective, you recognize the fact that it’s not always wickets that you take, but it’s the wickets that you earn for your team.”
“What I saw today was him bowling a lot more accurately. He bowled a little slower, which normally shows good confidence,” he added.
