Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by one run in Match 53 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Eden Gardens on May 4 (Sunday), and have kept themselves alive in the race for the playoffs.
The defending champions have 11 points after 11 games and are currently at No.6 on the IPL 2025 point table, with a Net Run-Rate (NRR) of +0.249.
The Knight Riders have three more league games to go, and here’s how they can qualify for the playoffs:
- First things first, KKR need to win all of their remaining three games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The CSK match will be their last home game, unless they qualify for the playoffs.
- Even if they win all their remaining games, KKR can only reach a maximum of 17 points. One way they could qualify is if RCB, who currently have 16 points, lose all their remaining six encounters.
- Another option: Mumbai Indians (MI), who have 14 points after 11 games, lose at least two of their last three matches.
- Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) lose at least three of their last four games.
- They will need Delhi Capitals (DC - 12 points) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG - 10 points) to not go above 17 points.
- A lot of these teams are playing against each other, so automatically some of them will drop points, and vice versa.
- KKR can also qualify if they lose one of their remaining three games, but they will then need a lot more to go in their favour.
