The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s T20I squad selections. When the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025, set to begin on September 9 in the UAE, was announced, the selectors carefully considered players’ performances in the IPL 2025, alongside their recent international form.

Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead India, with Shubman Gill named as his deputy. Apart from Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are the other two openers. India’s pace department will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, and he will be supported by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, with Pandya and Dube being the seam-bowling all-rounders. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel are the three spinners in the squad.

Mumbai Indians (MI) have the highest representation with four players, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have no players in the squad this time.

India are placed in Group A of the Asia Cup 2025 alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, and will begin their campaign against the UAE on September 10. Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
