HUGE BOOST For England as Star Player Declared FIT for Champions Trophy
England have been plagued by injuries ahead of the Champions Trophy
In what comes as a major relief and a huge boost for England ahead of the Champions Trophy, opener Ben Duckett has been declared fit for the mega event.
England have been plagued by injuries and they feared the worst when Duckett seemed to injure his groin in the third ODI against India in Ahmedabad. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed that Duckett has been given the green light to participate in the Champions Trophy.
“Scans on a left groin injury have confirmed that England Men’s batter Ben Duckett is fit and available for the ICC Champions Trophy,” the ECB said in a statement.
Duckett averages 46.16 in ODI cricket and has formed a hugely successful opening partnership with Phil Salt. Together as an opening pair, the duo average 50.37, with their last five partnerships reading 60, 81, 75, 58 and 48.
England have already lost the services of Jacob Bethell, who has been replaced by Tom Banton in the Three Lions’ Champions Trophy squad. Ben Stokes is unavailable due to a hamstring injury as well.
