The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) were jolted heavily when their president, Jagan Mohan Rao, on July 9 (Wednesday), was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID). The arrest was made over issues surrounding a ticket scandal during the 2025 IPL season.
It wasn’t just Rao; according to India Today, four more officials - Treasurer C. Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, General Secretary Rajender Yadav, and his wife G. Kavita - were arrested.
According to the same report, five of them were registered as cases under five different sections - 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using forged documents), 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant) and 420 (cheating).
"Following in-depth discussions and further telephonic deliberations with SRH CEO Mr Shanmugam, the following resolution was agreed upon: The category allocation of 3,900 complimentary passes to HCA will remain unchanged, consistent with established practice," the statement read.
HCA are entitled to receive 3,900 complimentary passes, but ended up asking 10% more, which has caused the whole ruckus. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also alleged that Rao locked a corporate box just hours before their clash against LSG, on March 27.
"HCA and SRH are committed to working together amicably to enhance the spectator experience at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium," the joint statement concluded.
