I would have Alex Hales available for selection: Rob Key

Hales has been a superstar on the T20 circuit despite not being available for England selection in the last three years

Since taking over as England Men's Cricket Director Rob Key has floated several decisions that could potentially change England cricket in some way or other. While Ben Stokes has taken over as the coach of the Test side, Key is in the process of finding new Head Coaches as well as establishing a selection panel that stood null and void under Ashley Giles. In another decision, Key has decided to bring Alex Hales back to the fold of English cricket this summer.

“I will have to speak to the people involved in that decision but I would have Alex Hales available for selection. I think he has done his time. But does that mean he gets in the team? That is a different debate," Key was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

Hales has been a superstar on the T20 circuit despite not being available for England selection in the last three years and was recently picked by Kolkata Knight Riders before pulling out of the year's action. He is the second Nottinghamshire batsman to be offered a potential lifeline after Joe Clarke, who found himself entangled in controversy for being a part of a Whatsapp group that “demeaned women and trivialized rape”.

He, along with Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was also involved in the same group, apologized after the England and Wales Cricket Board issued £2,000 fines, and four-match bans and sent the pair on an educational training course.
