ICC Announce Bumper 125% Increase In Prize Money For WTC Winners
The winner of the 2023-25 World Test Championship mace will earn more than the winners of the two previous editions combined
Winners of the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) mace will earn more than the winners of the two previous editions combined, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a 125% increase in prize money for the winners.
The winner of the Australia vs South Africa clash next month will walk away with USD $3.6 million, a significant jump from the USD $1.6 million awarded in both 2021 and 2023. And it’s not bad news for the runner-up either, as the prize money for them has been increased from $800,000 to $2.16 million.
The total prize pool for the WTC 2023-25 Final stands at a whopping USD $5.76 million.
The grand finale will take place from June 11 at the iconic Lord’s Stadium in England. While Australia are aiming to become the first team in history to win the WTC mace multiple times (and back-to-back), South Africa are eyeing their first ever major ICC title.
