ICC Asks Suryakumar Yadav To Avoid Making ‘Political’ Comments: Reports

The PCB had lodged an official complaint two days back

Following Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodging an official complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the ‘political’ comments made by Suryakumar Yadav in the aftermath of India’s clash against Pakistan on September 14, the ICC is believed to have officially warned the Indian captain and asked him to refrain from making political comments.

According to an ESPNCricinfo report, the hearing took place on September 25 (Thursday), where the ICC made its stance clear.

In the post-match presentation of that game, Suryakumar had asserted that the Indian team were dedicating the victory to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, but according to ESPNCricinfo, the Indian captain’s usage of the term ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the press conference is what’s believed to have landed him in hot water.

There is no clarity on whether Suryakumar would face any other sanctions, but that seems unlikely. Meanwhile, according to the same report, the ICC will hear the complaint lodged by the BCCI, over gestures made by Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan in the last India-Pakistan clash, later today (September 26).

September 28 (Sunday) will see India and Pakistan clash against each other in an Asia Cup final for the first time ever. Pakistan booked their spot in the final after edging Bangladesh by 11 runs in a thrilling encounter on September 25 (Thursday).
