ICC Champions Trophy 2025: 3 Indian players who could miss the tournament
It will be a massive blow for India if these players were to miss out
India have plenty of injury headaches ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which gets underway from February 19. We look at three players who can miss out due to injuries or tactical reasons.
Jasprit Bumrah
Many believe Jasprit Bumrah was overworked in the five-match Test series against Australia. He was forced off due to a back injury and is yet to recover. As a result, his name was omitted from the ODI series against England and he could very well miss the Champions Trophy as well.
It could be a massive blow for India if their premier pacer misses out.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami successfully returned to the Indian side in the recent T20I series against England. His heel surgery had kept him out for over a year, but he is part of the Champions Trophy squad, even ahead of a consistent performer like Mohammed Siraj.
However, the England ODIs will be a litmus test for the 34-year-old in terms of his fitness, and will determine whether he will play in the Champions Trophy or not.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is among just seven players to have picked up over 200 ODI wickets, but his place in the team is not guaranteed. However, with Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel in the side, and with India potentially trying to squeeze in Varun Chakravarthy, Jadeja could be axed.
It would be a big call from the selectors if Jadeja were to be removed from the side.
