Nic Pothas steps down as Bangladesh assistant coach ahead of Champions Trophy 2025
The South African joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in 2023
Nic Pothas has stepped down as Bangladesh's assistant coach ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, citing family reasons. The South African joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in 2023 and had a contract with the team till March 2026, but has resigned well before that.
Pothas took to Instagram to make the announcement.
"Like all good things, this too must come to an end. I've had an amazing time with some great people while with @bcb_tigers_official. We've broken many records along the way, made history, and created amazing memories. Now it's time to spend some quality time at home and see what the next chapter holds. I wish everyone at Bangladesh Cricket the very best for an exciting year ahead. I'll miss you," he wrote.
BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees had also confirmed to Cricbuzz that Pothas had indeed stepped down from his post. "Yes, his contract ran until 2026, but he resigned due to family reasons," he said.
Pothas previously served as the head coach of the West Indies (2018-19), and, before that, had a role similar to that with Sri Lanka (2017-18). Before joining the Bangladesh side, Pothas was the wicketkeeping coach at Hampshire.
