ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Why Are India Not Playing Any Warm-up Matches?
Other than India, England and Australia too will not play any official warm-up games ahead of the eight-team event
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 warm-up matches are set get underway on February 14 (Friday). However, India are not playing any warm-up games?
Why's that?
Playing in the warm-up matches is optional and BCCI has decided against it as they are preparing for the Champions Trophy with the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against England at home. India put in a thorough performance across the three matches, winning all of them comfortably.
Other than India, England and Australia, too, aren't playing a single warm-up game. As mentioned earlier, England played three matches against India and will have a camp in the UAE ahead of the Champions Trophy.
Australia too are playing a couple of ODIs in Sri Lanka ahead of the eight-team event and therefore have opted against playing in official warm-up games.
A total of four warm-up games will be played. Pakistan Shaheens will play Afghanistan in Lahore on Friday in the first of four games.
New Zealand will play Afghanistan on February 16 (Sunday). Pakistan Shaheens will be in action on February 17 (Monday) against two teams - vs South Africa in Karachi and against Bangladesh in Dubai.
The Champions Trophy will get underway from February 19 onwards, with hosts Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the opening encounter in Karachi
