WTC final to take place between June 11-16 at Lord's, confirms ICC

Currently, India are at the top of the table as per the percentage points, with Australia close behind in second place

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has zeroed in on June 11 to June 16 as the dates for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, slated to take place at Lord’s. It will be the first time that Lord's will host the WTC final, with The Rose Bowl, Southampton and The Oval, London being the venue for the first two editions of the event in 2021 and 2023, respectively.

The WTC final is the culmination of two years of competition in the WTC, spanning 69 Test matches over 27 series played to decide the finalists. Currently, India are at the top of the table as per the percentage points, with Australia close behind in second place.

India are now slated to play against Bangladesh and New Zealand at home and will tour Australia for a five-match series. New Zealand are in third place and have a good chance to make it to the top two.

“Winning the World Test Championship was, and still is, a big goal for this team. It is the culmination of hard work and consistency over the two-year cycle for all teams. So hopefully we will be there again, there’s a lot of cricket still to be played between now and then, and the fans can get a chance to watch us defend the title,” Australia captain Pat Cummins, who led the side to WTC victory in 2023, said.

New Zealand won the inaugural championship in 2021, and Australia lifted the Test Mace in 2023.
