For the second time in his career, Jasprit Bumrah has risen up to being ranked No.1 in the Test rankings for bowlers. The right-arm pacer picked up figures of 3/50 and 3/17 in the two innings of the Kanpur Test.
Bumrah replaces Ravichandran Ashwin, who was ranked No.1 earlier. Ashwin, though, has maintained his place as the second-best bowler in the ongoing ICC Test rankings following his Player of the Series display against Bangladesh. Ashwin was the architect of India's win in Chennai, where he scalped six wickets with the ball, following it up with a five-wicket showing in the Kanpur Test.
Following his splendid bowling display, Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya has climbed to joint-seventh after just 16 Tests. On the batting side of things, India’s duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli have made considerable progress.
Jaiswal is now ranked the third-best batter in Tests, while Kohli has reentered the top 10 after his 47 and 29* in Kanpur. On the other hand, Kamindu Mendis, who scored 182* in the second Test against New Zealand, has climbed up to 11.
