In 2008, Harbhajan Singh, who was the captain of Mumbai Indians, found himself part of a scuffle when he slapped S Sreesanth after a game, and the latter was seen crying. Even Sreesanth’s teammates tried to console the speedster and the incident had a big impact on Harbhajan as he was banned from the remainder of the competition. Shaun Pollock took over the captaincy responsibilities from the Punjab spinner for the remainder of the season.
14 years later, the duo decided to speak on the matter once again, with Harbhajan stating that he was highly embarrassed by that incident and that if he could correct it, he would change the way he treated Sreesanth.
“What happened was wrong. I made a mistake. Because of me, my teammate had to face embarrassment. I was embarrassed. If I had to correct one mistake, it was how I treated Sreesanth on the field. It should not have happened. When I think about it, I feel there was no need,” Harbhajan said during a promotional event on Saturday.
Gradually, the duo had developed a better relationship and played a big part in India winning the 2011 World Cup for India. Sreesanth also openly admitted that he learnt a lot from the altercation.
