Ignored By Gambhir, Mumbai Star Sarfaraz Khan Scores 92-Ball Century In Buchi Babu Trophy 2025
Sarfaraz Khan rescued Mumbai from a precarious position, with a 114-ball 138
It might now be extremely tough to ignore Sarfaraz Khan, as the Mumbai batter smashed a 92-ball century against Tamil Nadu Cricket (TNCA) XI, on August 18 (Monday) in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament 2025.
Sarfaraz couldn’t have asked for a better match-up, as TNCA XI had the best bowlers from Tamil Nadu. The right-hander walked in with Mumbai’s score reading 98/3, replacing the talented Harsh Aghav, who could only score 2 off 11 balls.
The Mumbai batter wasted no time, taking the attack to the Tamil Nadu bowlers, in a swashbuckling knock which saw him smash 10 fours and six sixes, with his strike rate reading 121.05, when none of the other Mumbai batters could reach a strike rate of 70.
In particular, Sarfaraz took a liking for the left-arm spinner, Manimaran Siddharth, whom he hit for 49 runs off just 42 balls, including three fours and two sixes. The 22-year-old also hit young off-spinner Mohamed Ali for 28 off 14 balls. The Mumbai batter got to his landmark in the most T20-esque manner with an upper cut over the wicketkeeper.
His innings didn’t last too long after that, as he retired hurt having scored 138 off 114 balls.
