Shai Hope, on January 13 (Monday), became the third batter to slam a century in the International League T20 (ILT20). The wicketkeeper-batter from West Indies hit 101 off 59 deliveries in Match 4 of the 2025 ILT20 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Playing for Dubai Capitals, Hope smashed 11 fours and three maximums and registered only his second hundred in the 20-over format. England’s Alex Hales (110 in 2023) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (106*) are the only other two batters to hit a century in the ILT20.
Chasing a target of 188 against MI Emirates, it was only Hope who put up a fight in the second innings. Apart from Hope, the other three batters in the top four - Ben Dunk, Brandon McMullen and skipper Sikandar Raza - all operated at a strike rate of less than 90.
Hope got out on the fourth delivery of the 16th over, with the Capitals’ scoreboard reading 135/3, meaning 101 of those runs came from Hope’s bat. That should tell you the lack of support he received from the other end.
Despite Hope's century, the Capitals fell short by 26 runs.
