The second youth ODI between India Under-19 and England Under-19 is taking place at the County Ground in Northampton, and it was ENG U19 who won the toss and opted to bowl.
And the hosts got off to a dream start as fast bowler Alex French castled the highly rated Ayush Mhatre on the very first legal delivery of the match. A good-length delivery from French nipped back into the right-hander sharply, and that spelt the end for Mhatre, whose off-stump went flying. It was two failures in as many games for skipper Mhatre, who posted 21 off 30 balls in the first game.
In comparison, it was a much more fruitful outing for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who managed 45 off 34 balls. The 14-year-old, who smoked 48 off 19 balls in the first game, made a rather cautious start, posting just 25 off his first 26 deliveries. However, he cut loose after that, scoring the next 20 runs off just seven deliveries. But he perished attempting an uppercut off right-arm seamer Jack Home.
India U19 are 81/2 in 13.2 overs at the time of writing this, with Vihaan Malhotra and Maulyarajsinh Chavda in the middle. India U19 are leading the five-match series 1-0, having won the first youth ODI by 6 wickets.
