Really Happy And Proud: Karun Nair On India Test Recall

The batter was named in the 18-member squad for the Test tour of England

It has been eight years since Karun Nair last played a Test for India. However, since then, he has returned to domestic and county cricket, churned out the runs, and earlier today (May 24), he was recalled to the Indian Test side for the tour of England.

Nair's recall is well-deserved, given that he has scored the 2,289 runs at an average of nearly 50 at No. 4 or below in first-class cricket since 2023.

Plying his trade for the Delhi Capitals (DC), Nair started off his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season well, smashing 89 off 40 deliveries against Mumbai Indians (MI), but since then has not boasted of a big score.

However, against Punjab Kings (PBKS), he smashed 44 off 27 to help his side chase down 207.

Speaking of his recall to the Indian side, Nair said, "Very grateful to get back into the team. Really happy and proud. Was eagerly waiting for the news and got a lot of messages from my close ones. Have been batting well in the last 12-16 months. It's about keeping my processes the same and do the same things that have worked for me."

DC, who won their first four games, are currently fifth on the IPL 2025 points table with 15 points from 14 games. However, as far as Nair is concerned, his next task will be to don the whites in England as India begin the five-match Test series at Headingley on June 20.
