India Batter Who Moved To USA Becomes Joint Third-Fastest In History To 1000 ODI Runs
He now averages over 67 in ODI cricket
It was four years ago that Milind Kumar, a former Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player, moved to the United States with the intention of playing international cricket some day.
Cut to November 2025, even in his wildest dreams Milind wouldn't have imagined his international career to pan out the way it has.
Today in the ICC WCL League 2 clash against UAE, the 34-year-old smashed his third ODI hundred in just his 22nd ODI game. And with that, he scripted a very special record as the right-hander became the joint third-fastest in history to amass 1,000 ODI runs, achieving the landmark in just 21 innings.
Only three men in history have racked up 1,000 ODI runs quicker than Milind has - Fakhar Zaman (18), Imam-ul-Haq (19) and Shubman Gill (19).
He joins eight other batters, including the likes of Babar Azam, Kevin Pietersen and Sir Viv Richards, to get to the landmark in exactly 21 innings.
Fastest to 1,000 ODI runs (by innings)
18 innings - Fakhar Zaman
19 innings - Shubman Gill
19 innings - Imam-ul-Haq
21 innings - Milind Kumar, Babar Azam, Kevin Pietesen, Jonathan Trott, Sir Vic Richards, Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Dawid Malan, Ben Duckett
With the 123*, Milind now averages a whopping 67.73 in ODI cricket. He’s in ludicrous form in 50-over cricket, with his last 4 scores reading 123*, 70, 71 & 70*. He’s averaging a staggering 81.50 in ODIs in 2025.
Milind also averages 32.20 in T20Is, although his strike rate of 105.57 is on the lower side.
