India, New Zealand practice sessions cancelled due to rains in Mumbai

Both teams go into the match after a draw in the first Test in Kanpur that went down to the wire

India and New Zealand cancel their practice sessions at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai due to rain. The track at the stadium has been covered since Wednesday (December 1) morning.

"Team India's practice session has been cancelled due to rains," said the BCCI in a statement.

Both teams go into the match after a draw in the first Test in Kanpur that went down to the wire. The second Test is scheduled to be played in Mumbai from Friday (December 3).

India and New Zealand arrived in the megapolis from Kanpur on Tuesday evening for the second and the final Test of the series. This series marks the beginning of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle. New Zealand had beaten India in the WTC final in Southampton earlier this year.

India completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series, which began just three days after New Zealand lost the T20 World Cup final against Australia in Dubai.

India are scheduled to tour South Africa for three Tests, three ODIs and four T20Is after the completion of the Mumbai Test. The first Test will begin on December 17 in Johannesburg.
