India overtake Australia to become top-ranked Test side

Meanwhile, India have also consolidated their position at number 1 in the T20I rankings, increasing their lead over England from six to eight points

India have managed to dethrone Australia ahead of the summit clash of the World Test Championship scheduled to commence on June 7 and take the top spot in the latest rankings, ICC said in a press release.Β

India's rating points have moved from 119 to 121 as their 2-0 defeat to New Zealand in March 2020 no longer features in the rankings.Β

"The annual rankings consider all series completed since May 2020, with series completed before May 2022 weighted at 50 percent and all subsequent series weighted at 100 percent," the release stated.\

India were last ranked number 1 in Test for a month in December 2021.Β

Australia, who were on top of the chart in the longest format since their 4-0 Ashes win in January 2022, are now on second position, with England on third.Β

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue also consolidated their position on top of the table in the T20I rankings. They currently have a lead of six points over England, who are placed second, and New Zealand are third in the table after overtaking Pakistan and South Africa.Β
