India-Pakistan On Cards As Asia Cup Set To Start In September: Reports

According to Cricbuzz’s reports, the UAE will host the Asian event

While there has been a significant geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan, there’s a good chance that the two teams could take on each other in September. According to Cricbuzz, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have begun renewed talks to host the Asia Cup in September.

The same publication also insisted that ACC are currently working on the schedule, and are expected to release it in July. ACC are planning on hosting the competition in the second week of September, likely September 10.

India and Pakistan will be joined by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Afghanistan in a six-team competition. Most likely, the competition is going to be played in a T20 format, given that the T20 World Cup 2026 starts in a few months after the Asia Cup.

“The UAE continues to remain the frontrunner to host the tournament, although there is also some discussion around staging it in a hybrid format,” the publication reported.

The ACC have grown in confidence over hosting the competition after the ICC released the Women’s T20 World Cup schedule, featuring India and Pakistan in the same group.
