India-Pakistan On The Cards Again? Asia Cup To Be Held In September In UAE: Reports
There was no physical representation from the BCCI in the meeting although Rajiv Shukla, the vice president of the board, attended online.
After a war-like situation between the two countries, India and Pakistan might well play against each other. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Dhaka on July 24, deliberated upon the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hosting the Asia Cup 2025 in September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“That (the schedule) will also be announced soon. We are in consultation with the BCCI, and hopefully we will resolve it very soon,” Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC chair and also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), was quoted as saying to mediators in Dhaka by The Hindu.
“The BCCI is in discussion with a few event partners, and they have told us they will announce the schedule soon,” he added.
There was no physical representation from the BCCI at the meeting, although Rajiv Shukla, the vice president of the board, attended the meeting online. A BCCI source confirmed to The Hindu that there is positivity around the tournament.
“Positively looking forward to hosting the Asia Cup at a neutral venue,” the source said.
When asked about the possibility of the India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025, Naqvi said, “Let’s wait for the (schedule) announcement first.”
This edition of the Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2026. The last edition of the Asia Cup was in the 50-over format, which was played in 2023.
